LGen Ret’d Jan Broeks is a highly respected former Director General of the International Military Staff (DGIMS) at NATO HQ with extensive experience in international political and strategic affairs. Jan is a person who highly values collaboration and work relationships and will invest, develop and innovate in order to find the right solutions. Jan can quickly prioritise between main and subsidiary issues and is adept at differentiating between less-sensitive and sensitive topics, skills that enabled him to excel as DGIMS and as the NLD MILREP at NATO HQ. In addition to his analytical skills, Jan is also a synthetic and synergetic thinker who leads and influences others in a diplomatic, effective and positive way, expecting a creative and consistent approach from people he works with. He excels in accuracy, decisiveness, enthusiasm, consensus-building and organizational skills. In addition to his time as DGIMS and the NLD MILREP, Jan has held multiple senior military appointments including Commander ISAF Redeployment Task Force, Defence Deputy Director Plans (NLD) and Program Manager for the NLD MoD. Jan understands the political and operational challenges facing NATO and can listen, understand, change and adapt quickly to any challenge or opportunity.
