Dr. Jordan Becker

Since July of 2021, Lieutenant Colonel Jordan Becker has been an Academy Professor and Director of the Social Science Research Lab at the United States Military Academy, West Point. Jordan also taught in the Department of Social Sciences as an Assistant Professor of International Relations from 2011 to 2014. From 2019 to 2021 he served as the United States’ Joint Staff liaison officer to the French Joint Staff. From 2014 to 2019, Jordan served at NATO Headquarters, first as Defense Policy Advisor to US Permanent Representative Douglas Lute, then as Military Assistant and Speechwriter to the Chair of the Military Committee, General Petr Pavel. Jordan served as a Special Forces Detachment Commander in 10th Special Forces Group in Fort Carson, Colorado, Iraq, and Africa, and as an Airborne Infantry Platoon Leader and Executive Officer in the 173rd Airborne Brigade in Vicenza, Italy, and Iraq.

Jordan has held academic appointments at Sciences Po/CERI in Paris, France, the Brussels School of Governance, and IHEDN and IRSEM at the French Ecole de Guerre. He received a PhD from King’s College London in 2017, Master’s degrees from Columbia University and Sciences Po in 2011, and a Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service from Georgetown University in 2001.
