Michael R. Fenzel is a United States Army lieutenant general who has served as the United States Security Coordinator for Israel and the Palestinian Authority since November 2021. He most recently served as the Vice Director for Strategy, Plans, and Policy of the Joint Staff. Prior to serving in that position, he was the Senior Military Advisor to the Special Representative for Afghanistan Reconciliation at the United States Department of State. He is the recipient of two Legion of Merit awards and three Bronze Star Medals. Fenzel holds degrees from Johns Hopkins University (BA), the U.S. Naval War College (MA), Harvard University (MA), and the Naval Postgraduate School (PhD).
