Robert Fox

Robert Fox is a professional reporter, commentator, author, and broadcaster with nearly 40 years of experience in defence journalism. He has reported from conflict zones including the Falklands, where he was awarded an MBE, Bosnia, Kosovo, Afghanistan, Iraq, and the Palestinian territories.

Fox has been Defence Correspondent for the Evening Standard since February 1999 and has served as Defence Editor since January 2013. He previously worked as Defence and Chief Foreign Correspondent for the Daily Telegraph from September 1987 to October 1997.

He is also a senior associate fellow at the Centre for Defence Studies at King’s College London (1999–present) and an Honorary Fellow at the Exeter University Strategic Studies Institute (2012–present). From September 2012 to December 2018, he served as a Commissioner for the Commonwealth War Graves Commission.

Fox regularly comments on defence and international security issues for the BBC and Sky News and contributes articles online to The Guardian and The First Post, as well as in print to The Times Literary Supplement, The Tablet, and other publications. His reporting and analysis combine frontline experience with scholarly insight, reflecting over three decades of engagement with military affairs, conflict reporting, and policy commentary.
